Greg Somers

Chief Executive Officer

Hi, I’m Greg!

My connection to Sigma Alpha Epsilon began while I was in law school, when I served as a live-in advisor at the SAE house at Michigan State University. During that time, we completed a major renovation of the house, which really sparked my interest in housing and construction. Later, while practicing law in California, I learned about an opportunity to help start SAE’s national housing arm. They were looking for someone with both legal and construction experience, and it turned out to be a perfect fit.

Today, I manage a large team and oversee nearly 40 properties across the country. No two days are ever the same, and there is always something new to tackle, from maintenance requests to leasing questions to staff projects.

My favorite part of the job is hearing from parents, students, or campus partners who tell us our SAE houses are among the nicest, cleanest, and safest on campus. Those moments make all the hard work worth it.

I believe my attention to detail and willingness to embrace change have both played a big role in helping our team and company continue to grow. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is that everyone is replaceable, so never let off the gas and always tell the truth, even when it might be uncomfortable in the short term.

Outside of work, I’m happiest when I’m outdoors, whether that’s skiing, scuba diving, or doing just about any sport on the water. I was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Michigan State, and what I loved most about joining was how it made a big university feel small. It gave me lifelong friendships and introduced me to people I never would have met otherwise.
